13After 1200 Lines of CSS, I’m Finally Here

Well its been a long couple of weeks and, after shameful amounts of Mountain Dew and Cheez-Its, I have finally finished my portfolio. Yes, Niko, is a portfolio and personal blog for yours truly. With this space I intend on filling you guys in on projects I’m working on, my opinions on issues ranging from web design to sports to pop culture, basically anything I find interesting. You get the privilege of observing this experiment evolve and hopefully contribute to the conversation as well. More about the site and me after the jump.
Who Do You Think You Are?
Good question. I am a freelance web developer working and living in Philadelphia, PA. I am currently studying computer science at Temple University expecting to graduate in the Spring of 2013. I have been working as a developer professionally for four years and have amassed what I call a pretty comprehensive knowledge of XHTML and CSS. That’s not to stay there is nothing left to be learned, but I specifically pride myself in writing clean, standards-compliant code that just works as efficiently as possible. I am also becoming a more adept at WordPress and jQuery / Javascript and am eager to keep learning more techniques with every new project. Studying computer science also provides me with a growing knowledge of programming and I have a growing interest in back-end development.
Currently I have a couple ideas for personal projects that I’ll talk more about in future posts, but I love to keep myself busy at all times. Along with web development, I dabble in amateur filmmaking. My Youtube channel features some stuff I’ve worked on and I’ll definitely post some info on the film projects I’ll be working on in the future.
So, What About This Site?

Ah yes, this site. The website took me about a month or two of inconsistent development. I was sandwiching this project with freelance and school work and could only work on Niko when I had free time. To give an estimate of the amount of work, there is over 1200 lines of CSS behind the curtain. The site is also built completely on the robust WordPress. Along with the normal XHTML and CSS, I also used some jQuery for some functionality and even wrote my own little plug-in for the album hovers on the left.
Although I think I’ve exhausted all debugging and testing we know how these things work. In light of that, if you find anything wrong or strange about how my website performs or if you have any suggestions on how I can improve the site, please let me know (unless you’re using Internet Explorer 6).
So What Now?
You can check out my work. It’s not a complete list of everything I’ve worked on, but a nice little showcase of some stuff I particularly liked. You can read a little more about me (and check out the cool, pure HTML graphs I made) or you can hit me up with the contact form if you’re interested in working with me on a project or just want to talk, I’m all ears. Well, this is it for now, but I hope to see you again.
